It could be the PTU, but is keeps the hydraulic systems on the same pressure by using a hydraulic pomp. It dous not keep the trust levels equal.

I agree…..Hydraulic noise for sure…..seems to only happen on Airbuses, hence the name “Scarebuses”

that whining noise you heard was probably the PTU, or power transfer unit, which is a standard feature on most airbus aircraft. It keeps the thrust in between both engines equal.

Well, I haven’t flown in any regional aircraft to destinations in the mountains, but I’ve never experienced anything as bad as that turbulence taking off from KLAS. You can get some turbulence if you are heading eastbound from DIA, until you are far enough east of the mountains. Usually it isn’t bad, though. Even what I experienced out of KLAS doesn’t count as severe turbluence-there were no bags falling out or oxygen masks coming down.

This turbulence is nothing compared to the turbulence at takeoff from KRDU to KLGW. It practically felt like you were on a jetski out in the ocean.
