“That was a wonderful meal” (20:50). Imagine that–getting served food on a plane!
Men in hats, Checker taxicabs and screetchy, smoky jets… This was livin’!
The only reason I would like to fly back then was just less hassle of security and such. Flying was probably a lot more enjoyable especially at the airport.
It still has a current registration!
A phone call cost a dime. Obesity rates were low. Racism was standard operating procedure. But stewardi looked good!
everybody looks so happy and nice, wow, avaition in the golden days.
The golden days of aviation. People were also polite, courteous and well dressed.
Plus 45 years from now people will be looking back on this going remember when you had to wait for a youtube video to buffer? remember youtube?
Ward Cleaver Leave it to Beaver takes an airline trip–bur seriously==this is a great aviation travel video from the classic era==707′s–DC-8′s-Convair 880′s–727′s–that was real airline flying–wish i was a pilot back then–
and way more racist. and the planes were alot more dangerous back then
Hey COOL at 00:59, that American 727-100 is taking off from Tucson KTUS. I think that’s runway 11-R where I learned to fly and solo’s off of.
WOW!!! Loved this film!!! More please!!
Great movie of how it all was done in the old days. I especially liked the parts of the dispatch office, as I was a dispatcher until a few years ago.
The Ford Trimotor at 17.40, N414H, is still airworthy today, I think?
Agreed: sometimes it’s hard to tell if the dog’s wagging the tail or vice-versa.
Yes, I agree somewhat, but technology by itself doesn’t change mindsets, alter belief systems, or make one slothful. Rather, it’s a rudderless mind consciously filling itself (and by extension the minds of its progeny) with more and more immorality of every kind from cinema, music, the “arts,” etc. Sow to the cultural wind, reap the cultural whirlwind. We’re now engulfed in that whirlwind.
Indeed. All technology does for us today is give us the excuse to be lazy and fat.
Wish I had been around back then. People were alot nicer. Not to mention, flying on real airplanes. Not the plastic new ones now.
I’m an airline dispatcher at United, and it’s amazing to see that much of the technology is still the same as in this video. We still use ARINC to contact flights, we still send text messages to the cockpit, all of the ATC commands are the same, the planning process is the same, really very interesting. The technology behind the planning is new, we now flight plan to take advantage of modern wind data and save fuel. Also flights no longer need to issue position reports. Still well done.
This brings me back to the days(1990′s) when my dad used to fly a Boeing 707, a true classic “muscle jet”!!!
Love the “modern air terminal”. and the sticker computer system.
haha laugh about the seat belt extension in 40 years it will be an extra $200.00
AWESOME
God, I LOVE these old aviation movies.
“That was a wonderful meal!”
