What a wonderful airline Pan Am was. I was privileged to be a stewardess in the “good old days” of air travel and saw the world and was treated like family by this airline. I treasure the memories.!!! Commerical flying will never be the same!

I worked for Pan Am yes at times it was not run right, but the real reason was the way the US Government looked at them, they could not fly inter-city only international. When they asked FAA to change it, it fell on def ears. Latter on Pan Am bought national airways but by then the damage was done.

In it’s best years, Pan Am was ‘THE’ airline.. And I don’t live in the US.

Where are you getting your information ” I flew Pan Am in 1969 and 1981 and saw the deteoration in customer service , that was the main reason they went bankrupt ” Supply documented facts supporting your claims… The docmented facts from trade publications and books state Pan Am collapse was due to U.S. Govt indifference, terrorism and poorly executed management decisions..!

I flew Pan Am in 1969 and 1981 and saw the deteoration in customer service , that was the main reason they went bankrupt , you need to fly like everyday is your first flight. I do think they should be given a second chance and billions invested to get people working again, but base it on competence not affirmative action, and keep the flight attendants young .

  22. pogleswood2 says:

it was criminal when they finished Pan Amm Airlines and TWA especially now we have that shitty EasyJet

  23. benzboi1 says:

It was glorious, flying in those days. I feel saddened for the generations that never thrilled to approach a 747 on the tarmac, climb the stairs and enter the huge aircraft. Then the service would begin and everything on the ground was forgotten. Pan Am was THE American flag carrier and her elegant act has never been duplicated.

  24. tofu46 says:

if only it wern’t for the lawsewt after the lockerbie bombing of pan am 103 pan am would still be running today in 2009 and like you said today we get crudy airlines that have horible food and terible service. I went on continental and when I tasted the pasta I spent 10 minutes in the tiny bathroom of the DC9 throwing up like crazy but air new zealand has good food I flew on a 777 with TV screens with like every existing movie and a remote that pops out of the armrest it was so cool

  25. tofu46 says:

where did you live in Canada cuz I live in toronto and my parents have never seen a pan am or TWA at pearson
