What a complete moron for a pilot. What the hell is wrong with these people? They go through all the training, get paid the big bucks, boast constantly about their jobs then throw it all away because they think they know better then their training and rules. So many have died through needless error. You can’t trust anyone to do their job?

now a days, you want the new pilots because they follow all the SOPs, unlike when you have a senior captain and jr fo, or senior captain and senior fo.

I think that they should have one pilot with enough experience to flight the 737 noting that it was said both pilots had less then 3 yrs with the aircraft. It may not be always possible but they should try to have at least one pilot that is more experience then the other on all flights.

ALSO! And old crash that haunted me at 9 years old to this day May 1979 DC-10 Flight 191..I was FURIOUS with all those pilots saying “I was in the sim and had no problem adjusting to the asymmetry after the engine came off.” Those two pilots had MASSIVE experience in the DC10 and flawless records (I hear they were among the best of the best in the DC10) but didnt have the 20/20 pre-loaded response ready and waiting. I’m sorry I had to vent on that one That was a sad day had a friend on there

Isn’t JFK Jr. a classic case of inexperience and failure to obtain proper weather briefing? I am a meteorologist not a pilot so I know what he flew into but not how he reacted. A pilot friend of mine told me he likely was using his eyes not his instruments. Is this a danger with most young pilots with limited IFR experience?

Like I said, I’ve had minor stuff happen to me in the past while flying, but most of my “hickups” were pilot errors. Example, not listening to a SIGMET for turbulence and even ignoring PIREPS by 737 pilots reporting moderate turbulence in the area.

All I cared at that time was that there was over 50 m visib, (in LA). Of course I was 18 and still “invincible” at that time. That was the shortest flight I ever did, once around the pattern.

So it is experience, experience, experience..
