A pile of debris on the ground without a crater would suggest that the aircraft broke up in the air. Aircraft don’t break up in the air by themselves, but yes, there were many firsts that day on 9/11…

that doesnt sound like the captain when he says were heading back to the airport, they met our demands..he doeesnt even use any of the technical radio terms…listen to it the man has a heavy accent..i believe that was the hi-jacker, wanting to use the desception that they were going back..out of the air…which is stupid and way under thaught to me…what do you guys think??

They’re required to attempt radio contact, especially in situations like this, especially with sporadic radio contact from the hijacked plane. It also gives the pilot, if able, the knowledge that ATC still knows he’s there and is trying to help.

Also, immediately following the flight line of a large plane with a possible bomb on board is EXTREMELY dangerous. ATC is absolutely not going to ask a commercial liner with civilians on board to attempt anything so reckless.
