Full info: www.exosphere3d.com This animation is based on all currently available data concerning the US Airways Flight 1549 crash landing on the Hudson River (Cactus 1549). Satellite imagery, elevation models and robust GIS mapping methods are utilized to create a vegetation model, terrain model and ground clutter (3D buildings). Of all available audio tracks, only two are used, La Guardia Tower and New York TRACON Departure controller position. The Captain of that flight is a HERO! All it would have taken for absolute disaster is for a single wing to graze the water a second or two earlier then . . . only death would have emerged.

  2. snoozer998 says:

That was intense. We must think of the entire crew and towers as heroes in this.

  3. ukidinme2010 says:

@mrallpurpose Captian Sully was a very dedicated pilot. This was not luck. This was years of training and experience.

  4. mrallpurpose says:

@jim777kelly this has nothing to do w/ western civilization. This was just plain luck…and luck is a HUMAN phenomenon…

  5. xnccb says:

Good thing it wasn’t a rookie or he/she would be freaking out and saying ” OH MY GOD HELP HELP WE CAN’T MAKE IT AHHHHHH”

  6. ninjacowboy says:

where did you get that plane?

  9. pqwilrj says:

Just think how badly that could have ended if he’d tried to return to LaGuardia…

  10. kagey19 says:

This European-built plane bought Capt Sullenberger enough time to think and act properly. The guy did a spectacular job but give some credit to the Airbus which bought him the time to think.

  11. ksb100pr says:

    @Nalehw
“”I’m not sure we can make any runway.”

That must’ve been a chilling moment.”

Reminds me a little of Al Haynes coming in to Sioux City in UA232:
Controller: You’re cleared to land on any runway.
Haynes: You want to be particular and make it a runway, huh?

  23. humanice2 says:

@jim777kelly all they did was slightly land at some river. barely needs any intelligence.

  24. 1337Flyboy says:

flight control is just like “fuck”

  25. Sonnabend00 says:

The Captain and his F/O did the impossible, Ice calm and cool as a mountain lake….OUTSTANDING.
