@1BustedMyth I know what you mean! I was at an airshow last year and they let me climb into the cockpit of a B52. The smell was unmistakable. The pilot said that after a long range flight, the first thing they do once back on the ground is shower. He said it’s not a bad smell, just unique, and everyone knows you’ve been flying a B-52 when they come up to you. 50 years of sweat, leather, spilled coffee, canvas and vacuum tube electronics all mixed together is the aroma. Love it!

@0Heavy0Metal0, LOL!, sooo true! I’m a bit biast, I like to roll in it like a dog and not shower for days!!! if I could get it as a cologne i’d buy it! (might never get laid again!) your the first to say that to me, but your right the old electronics have their own smell. Ahh stop, your making me miss that smell ) think I’ll be going to the airport soon.

Love the P-51 but I would go the Spitfire.
William Dunn (US fighter ace who flew Spitfires, P-51s, Hurricanes, and P-47s): “Now, if I had to make the choice of one fighter aircraft above all the others – one that I’d rather have tied to the seat of my pants in any tactical situation – it would be, without any doubt, the world’s greatest propeller driven flying machine – the magnificent and immortal Spitfire.”
