Author: admin | Files under Air Deals Video

Korean Air Flight 801 (KE801, KAL801) crashed on August 6, 1997 on approach to Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport, Guam (a United States territory). Flight 801 was normally flown by an Airbus A300, but Korean Air had scheduled the August 5-6 flight to transport Guamanian athletes to the South Pacific Mini Games in American Samoa, the airline designated HL7468, a Boeing 747-300 to fly the route that night. Things like this happens in unexpected situation. If the people are fated to die they will die. If its not for this flight they will die somewhere else.

@lotharzipo They had far longer than 5 seconds to evaluate the situation. They should have been nowhere near that end result if they had took the correct decision the minute the situation was dangrous as opposed to 10 seconds before it was deadly.

I don’t think so. IT is common sense, and regulation. They disobeyed it.

I lived about a mile away when this happened! I was only five years old, we were a military family when we lived there. It was really scary!

Was that part of the rules in 1997 or recent. A lot of rules have changed now and they’re safer. Anyway the first officer was fresh and alert probably and wanted the missed approach. The captain was probably tired and just trusted the instruments. The captain just wanted to land and then go to bed.

You’re right, they should’ve asked or confirmed again that the glideslope isn’t working. But also you have to understand that 1) they’re tired, they just want to land and go to sleep. 2) they had visual sight of the airport, so they assumed that the glideslope was just probably working or at least bringing them to the right direction. I’m not defending the pilots, but I’m sure they didn’t MEAN to kill themselves and those people. It was a mistake, a costly one at that. May they Rest In Peace

Blame India ? You can´t be serious. Why not blame them for Pan Am 103 and the loss of two spaceshuttles ? Man, wake up ! India has really nothing to do with this tragedy. Can´t believe this….

exactly what l thought, their reaction was illogical. They know they are gonna relay onto something that isn’t supposed to be functionning, ASKING wouldn’t have been a crazy thing to do…

Maybe they were too dependant of the system and they thought the maintenance was over… nah, they just DECIDED WILLINGLY to ignore what ATC said, hence the result.
