Air Crash Investigation Frozen In Flight Part 4 [HQ]

On Halloween 1994, an American Eagle ATR-72 suffered a loss of control and crashed near Roselawn, Indiana killing all 68 people on board. While flying in freezing conditions, ice accumulated on the wings. Inadequate de-icing mechanisms failed to remove the ice, resulting in the disruption of the air flow.

@RunTheRockers These ppl who assigned blame to the pilot should mirror this exact same flight and situation, and try to get out of it themselves.

Strange to actually hear the name of the airport you fly out of on one of these Air Crash Investigations. Nice job to Capt. Michael Bodak.

  3. gp5 says:

Go to PBS . org and search for Frontline “Flying Cheap” it comes from the commuter pilots mouth.

  4. packa1me says:

Where are you getting these numbers from? 17,000 is a little extreme…

  5. FLYJB says:

too many 22 year old kids with 300 hours out there flying these things if you ask me.

  6. WarRogers says:

I’m not even a pilot and am aware of supercooled water in clouds; a first-semester college science text goes into detail about dangers this causes to pilots. I still contend they should’ve had their mind on THIS instead of the flight attendants. These guys were just too busy playing Tom Cruise in the air.

  7. gp5 says:

How come pilots don’t protest about the poor training, overworking or shitty pay?
Specially the shitty pay, because if you pay $60,000 for flight training to fly multi-million dollars machines for $17,000 a year????? Are you kidding me, after taxes that’s about $15,000-14,000
Something has to be done, but I don’t see or hear of any commuter pilots revolting or striking or protesting about these things, my question is WHY?

  8. revengeofthecookie says:

Wait,my bad. You`re blaming the italian airline who crashed with an ATR-42?

If you did,I made a little premature comment, sorry.

  9. revengeofthecookie says:

American Eagle? They`re still operating to this day.

  10. ns81 says:

Can’t wait for the report on Colgan Air. I think too many tragedies have occurred because of poor training, overworking, and bad weather conditions in this sweatshop regional air industry.

  11. RunTheRockers says:

they blame it on the pilots just because they dont want to pay for the losses?!
what kind of company is this?
im not surprised if this company goes bankrupt 2 months later.
