IRS abbreviation for “Inertial reference system”. This system has several components: inertial reference units (IRUs), inertial system display unit (ISDU), IRS dode select unit (MSU), and IRS transfer switch. Each IRS (there are 2 of them) has 3 sets of laser gyros and accelerometers. After initial set up they compute attude & heading. It is the navigation heart of the system computing current position and where you want to go. Think of it as your 5 senses feeding your brain information.

That NTSB guy had a freaking smirk on his face when he was talking about how the pilot made a mistake. Douche.

Great example… I’m a pilot in Canada, and the example I use is spilling coffee in the car, and worrying about that instead of looking outside and making sure you’re still driving properly – or at least get stopped before dealing with the coffee. It was at the very core of my training, because it is in fact one of the biggest killers! It must have been difficult in a storm without their intruments for 30 seconds – I had a similar problem at night, and found myself 1000ft lower than I thought.

When sistem failures of that kind happen, one pilot should fly the airplane the other should fix the problem…it is ridicolous, no autopilot set and they don’t act properly to keep the airplane flying

This is comparable to crashing your car while trying to change the radio station on your radio. Pay attention to the airplane, esp when flying through a storm, not to the broken navigation, I wouldn’t be surprised if those pilots didn’t even have drivers’ licenses. That was sad and messed up, I feel sorry for the innocent people that were pretty much ‘murdered’ in this crash. Where were the pilots COMMON SENSE ? I hope the FAA makes sure such bullshit can’t ever happen again. RIP.

Bro. I totally agree wth your statement. And I am quite shocked when actually these pilots did not train appropriately by the Adam air comp. This part is an open and public humiliation to the indonesian people including me. I feel sorry for the life’s that been put out easily bcause of this silly and irresponsible cause.

This is the outlook of indonesian airlines as a general. where money come first, and people’s life n safety came last. i’m as an indonesian was very embarrased for this accident that tooked people’s life so easily and so cheaply. indonesian people should upgrade them self (interms of resources, skill, mentality, and knowledge) if they want still to compete with other countries.
anyway, thank u for uploading this movie, very informative, n hope this thing never happen again!
