Here’s what i knew as a kid. Every month or so, we’d get a letter from our family saying another cousin or relative has been shot on his way home from the store or school. Or lost his home. Or has been injured. Or is dead. When long distance calling became a bit cheaper we would call them, and hear the gunshots in the background, then the screaming.
