    well dc10 today isnt that bad in nubers of crashes but what had to happen to make it safe really did not had to happen

    @psgman41 the reason they didn’t mention the 747 crashes is because this crash had absolutely noting to do with that aircraft there for they didn’t mention it……….this crash was a DC-10 accident. Mentioning a 747 crash in this video would make no sense at all.

    No Airline can tell me to slow to no fucking v2 when I lose one engine..
    They’re stupid.. Stick shaker or none, look on the damn speedometer….
    I blame, AA and the pilot for listening to AA lol :P

    @McLarenMercedes No MD emergencies procedures were wrong(See Part 4/5) . The pilots were trained to take the plane to V2 when they lost an engine but that actually causes the plane(DC-10 or MD-11) go into a stall.

    @psgman41 Why are you so defensive about de DC10s?They don’t even operate anymore.. besides there’s no reason for them to mention 747s crashes if the program is about a DC10 crash

    @lotwyo HI There Sir, I hate flying it does not matter which Airline I fly with!!!! BUT (I hate that word BUT!!!!) I pay more money to fly with LH or BA because I know that they take more time to check their flights/planes etc.,

    I do not appreciate the fact that they mentioned all the crashes involving DC-10′s and did not mention all the crashes involving 747′s. If you’re gonna make a comparison between Boeing’s 747 and MD’s DC-10, you gotta do it right.

    Funny how they blame MD for the design flaws of the DC10, when in reality the airline had cut corners servicing the thing. The ultimate responsibility still lies in the airline and their cost saving repairs.

    Ok, the DC10 did have several accidents which could be attributed to faulty design and not to the airlines or maintanence itself.

    Well, my shift is done. I’ll just leave this improperly disassembled engine assembly dangling from its mount because it’s no longer my problem. Besides, I need a beer. Ahhhhh . . . union labor at its finest!

    @emmsback They were going by AA’s book. Other pilots tried it going by AA’s book and the same thing happened.

    @emmsback uh, no. The problem is that the slats retracted on the left side, unbalanced at any speed. DC10 will fly missing an engine, but when clean. HaHa, stick with flightsim….

    McDonnell Douglas deserved to have gone defunct and been taken over, they just did not have the safety culture that other manufacturers did.
    The DC-10 was full of design features that depended on their being used in such a precise way yet slight deviation or minor mistakes could cause disaster. Like how the cargo door could easily explosively rupture if not closed in precisely the right way.
    M-D should have realised how many airlines weren’t following engine procedure and emphasised the danger.

    @reaperrowledge No, they profited off them buying tickets on everyone’s assumption they’d safely be delivered. The death lawsuit settlements cost AA and McDonnell Douglas VAST sums of money.
    They only ever attempted that engine maintenance procedure because they thought it would save money AND be safe, they were wrong and careless but don’t mistake stupidity for malicious intent.
    McDonnell Douglas’ planes failed in designs that made safe handling/maintenance too hard. Like the cargo door too.

    Stay at Full power,climb to 5000 feet before turning for return to the airport to avoid a stalling by losing air flow under the wing as the pilots still had 2 working engines and never completed the climb out before reducing power that caused the crash and the two working of three engine checklist was not followed. All of these people would be alive today if the pilots stayed at full power and not stalled the airplane even though they lost the left engine. DC10s fly well with one or two engines

    well you should know pilots who fly those planes, even the captains make anywhere from 9-14K a year.
    and the cities they fly between are to rich for you to live in so you’d end up in bankrupcy anyhow.

    best bet, Join the Army, Navy or Coast Guard (air force is beyond overly competative to become a pilot), fly Fixed wing in those branches for like 20 years, and you’ll be able to transition to the big jets easy.

    and piloting a single prop is pretty similar to a jumbo, the same sciences apply.

    I flew into O’Hare just after it crashed. Was on the leftside of the plane and it looked like the hand of God had smashed it into the ground like a mosquito or fly. From the air , a perfect hand print mark on the burnt smoldering ground. Scared the @#$%^&* out of me. I stopped flying then until 2007. I was so nervous that 1st time back flying in 2007.
