DC 10 was a doomed aircraft from day one with numerous accidents, mostly design related.
Wow does this bring back a sad memory! I was walking home from kindergarten I lived in Elmhurst during the time of that crash. My dad was just getting home from work (GTE) on Wolf Rd, Northlake. And my grandmother lived in that Trailer Park. I remember my dad flying out the door to go get my grandmother. Horrible horible day.

@sa7272la They can’t be that bad, the USAF has been using them in a tanker role since 1981 with only one incident. That incident was a ground fire and not directly the fault of the aircraft.

In addition, there is no ONE engineer that designs this plane. There are fuselage, tail, wing (within the wing group, it would consist of people analyzing things such as spars, ribs, skin, wing root) landing gear, hydraulics, harness, etc etc etc. Its always to criticize after the fact. Its never easy to predict beforehand.
@sis8mb you be the engineer designing the plane with only engineering books, physics books, some computer models and design manuals doing things with the best of your knowledge with only a couple of big tests to say within 99.9% of a reasonable doubt that something will fail and ALWAYS worrying about that .1% that something could happen. Then say what you just said.

@RatkoUSA Trailer parks are often placed on cheap ground near airports or railways.

@sonicfan7 i only like 2 Airbus my family owns alot of Boeing and designd alot of Boeing aircraft including the E3, the only good Airbus is A330 and the A380
@sonicfan7 airbuses are shity and dangerous. Boeing is the best.
